Nobody ever came from/through Cruces as talented as Eric Hisaw. You can watch Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart or you can just go see Hisaw and see the real thing. The only punk 19 year old kid I've ever known who could play any Statler Brothers song on request, and give you seven different arrangements at well.

Because they are the greatest band in the world, and began in the Southwest, in conditions and locality not unlike Cruces. As a matter of fact, almost exactly like Cruces.Any thing, any iota of item, any ounce of product touched or shadowed upon by The Sun City Girls, should be required stock in every record store in America, but especially from L.A. to Austin. Are you listening Rocky at Mecca and Dave at Charlie's?I love the Numero reissues, and Light in the Attic as well.   And damn it if the new Snail Mail isn't rocking. But Sun City Girls and Mississippi Records are the Kings. All hail the King.

What You Need to Know if You Are Charged with Drug Trafficking in Texas

Drug trafficking convictions are very serious, in that they can lead to lengthy prison sentences and thousands of dollars in fines. While there are many defenses available in drug trafficking cases, you must have experienced legal counsel in order to fully take advantage of any of these defenses. Therefore, it is in your best interests to contact our office as quickly as possible regarding any drug trafficking or any drug-related charges. While all drug trafficking charges are serious, the severity of a drug trafficking charge often depends on the type of drug and the weight of the drug involved. Under both Texas and federal law, some drugs are considered to be more dangerous than others. The quantity of the drugs also determines the difference between simple drug possession and drug trafficking, which involves the transporting, importing, and/or selling of drugs. Whereas an individual might face a drug possession charge for having a small amount of marijuana in his or…

Florida law creates a cause of action for an injunction for protection against domestic violence. A family or household member, who is either the victim of domestic violence or has reasonable cause to believe he or she is in imminent danger of becoming a victim of domestic violence, may petition for an injunction for the protection against domestic violence under Florida Statute Section 741.30.Under Florida Statute Section 741.30(5)(a), if the court finds there is an immediate and present danger of domestic violence, it may grant a temporary injunction, pending a full hearing. Following a full hearing, if the court determines the petitioner is the victim of domestic violence or is in imminent danger of becoming a victim of domestic violence, the court may enter a final injunction. If you were recently served with a petition for injunction against violence, then contact an experienced attorney at the Sammis Law Firm. An 18-year-old who was sleeping at his friend’s house on June 3 has been arrested for allegations that he attempted to rape his friend’s mother during the middle of the night. Jordan Corter of Arlington, Texas, was staying over at his friend’s house for a social visit on Sunday night. When his friend’s mother was about to turn in she removed all of the alcohol in the house from the common areas and brought it in her bedroom. She then went to bed and locked the door to her room. In the early hours on Monday morning near 2:30 am, Corter allegedly tapped on the woman’s secured door. The mom cracked the door a little to see who was knocking and Corter reportedly forced his way inside of her room and pushed her onto her bed. When he had the woman on her back he allegedly stuck his hands down the front of her pajama bottoms. Continue reading →

Pogo Is Still Right: Fight, Twitter, Fight

It may be that Michael Gottlieb figures he’ll cover all the bases, because why not? It’s not his job to worry about other people’s privacy, about sticking his nose into the wholly unrelated private business of people he neither knows nor gives a damn about. And as a fairly new lawyer at Boies Schiller, trying to make his bones in crisis management, leaving a little scorched earth behind is the least of his worries. But for Pogo, not to mention Popehat, this is a step too far. The gravamen of the action in the District of Columbia isn’t important or relevant. Nor are the parties. These things aren’t relevant because Pogo isn’t a party and isn’t alleged to have done anything whatsoever to give rise to the cause of action or harm. Pogo is just there. Ken White too. They were tagged in a twitter thread, which is sufficient to make them “secondary accounts” as far as Gottlieb’s subpoena goes. This apparently genuine…

Hamilton-Smith: Letter To Gay

Ed. Note: Portland criminal defense lawyer David Menschel noted on the twitters that there are now more people on sex offender registries than incarcerated. While mass incarceration is a well-recognized travesty, recognition of the burdens of SORA remains a mystery to many, who have no appreciation of the devastation it imposes for jobs, residence, disclosure, reporting and the normal accouterments of life. Not to mention violent retaliation by the unduly fearful and hateful. While it’s an easy sell to explain why a kid urinating against a wall, or a teen sexting a pic of herself, isn’t really a “sex offender,” it’s far harder to understand why people convicted of the more repulsive offenses shouldn’t be pariahs. Below is a repost of Guy Hamilton-Smith’s Medium post to give you some insight into who these evil people may be. Bear in mind, the question isn’t whether they did wrong, but whether the punishment for the offense should…
