BC Judge Allows 11-Year Old Girl to Continue Treatment to Transition to a Boy

A British Columbia  Supreme Court judge has appointed a lawyer for an 11-year old Prince George girl who is undergoing hormonal treatment to transition to a boy, a process encouraged by the girl’s mother, but opposed by her father. The child’s parents are separated. Children diagnosed with gender dysphoria are no longer staying in the shadows, as we read about child gender transitions around the world, including the United Kingdom and Australia. Below is an article I wrote in January 2011 entitled “Children Born in the Wrong Body”. A Family Court Judge in Australia has approved sexual reassignment surgery for a 16 year-old schoolboy who suffers from a mild form of autism. Justice Linda Dessau heard evidence of the boy’s desperation to escape his gender prison and start his life over as a girl. The Court listened to testimony of significant distress, anxiety and depression, including at least one suicide attempt. The boy’s family, six…

The Driver License Compact Can Raise Complexities

There are lots of ways to break the law that involve how you use your car. Luckily, many of them are minor traffic offenses, like parking tickets. Even a speeding ticket is a low-level offense that rarely amounts to more than a fine, unless it's for criminal speeding. However, there are also many serious crimes that can be committed in a car, like manslaughter, and between the two is a litany of other traffic offenses, including operating under the influence (OUI). Because of the numerous potential traffic violations, how often they happen, and the fact that people commonly move from one state to another, most of the states in the U.S. have bound together to share information concerning license suspensions that have happened within their borders. However, not all states in the country are in on the agreement, and this can create uncertainty when it comes to the status of your driver's license. The Driver License Compact The Driver License Compact is an agreement…

Consequences of a DUI Probation Violation in California

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU VIOLATE THE CONDITIONS OF YOUR DUI PROBATION? First- and second-time DUI charges that don’t involve an accident, injury, or death almost always end in a sentence of probation, or what is more correctly termed, a grant of probation in lieu of a jail sentence. What happens if you violate the terms of your DUI probation? First let’s discuss how you might find yourself in violation of probation. Probation on a DUI offense almost always requires that you pay certain fines and fees, that you attend DUI classes, and often that you attend other alcohol-related programs such as a MADD program, attendance at AA meetings. You might be required to complete community service work also. Assuming you are granted a restricted license after the mandatory suspension of your license, a condition of DUI probation will prohibit driving at any time with any measurable amount of alcohol in your system (“zero tolerance”). You may be required as a condition…

20 QUESTIONS

Why....Why does life and practice of law in the REGJB need to be so difficult?Twenty questions:1) Why aren't court documents scanned so they can be accessed electronically? Let's break this down in to two subsets. First, the Feds have a great system. You electronically file something and it is available for downloading from then on. This system was fully functional before the state instituted our filing system which does not make filed documents accessible. Second, what's the document attorneys wait in line at the clerk's office (now down to one clerk and counting) to copy? An A-Form on a new case. Why aren't those scanned so we can get them?We can order a four course meal from a French restaurant on our phone and pay for it and have it delivered to the courthouse within an hour, but we can't get a copy of an a-form without waiting in a line for the same hour. You can apply for a freaking mortgage on your phone. But we…

Most of your favorite pundits are owned by the same big donors who control elections. These relationships are never disclosed. You can, however, help me expose the corrupt. Go to Guidestar.org It's free to register. Search for the name of the publication you want to look into. For example, I looked into Commentary Magazine, which is incorporated as Commentary, Inc. Look on the right hand side. The green box will give you access to their Form 990s. Download the Form 990. The Form 990 is the tax return that non-profit corporations are required to file each year. Scroll down to Schedule J. This will give you the salary information for the five highest paid employees. I found out that the publisher of the "non-profit" is earning over $450,000 a year once you factor in salary, benefits, and pension. How does anti-Trump @jpodhoretz "earn" $424,000 a year running a "non-profit" magazine? Who funds that? pic.twitter.com/Rdp0YtawER —…

What is Contraband?

$

What do a pirate’s booty, a runaway slave and a cigarette have in common? They may seem entirely unrelated, but under certain conditions or at some point in history, each of these things has been thought of as contraband. To fit the description, an object need not be illegal in and of itself. Some earn the honor by default when the people who possess or transfer them have done so in illegal ways. For this reason, the term will cover items that have been: Stolen. Smuggled. Hijacked. Forged, counterfeited or otherwise illegally produced. Purchased with money obtained through fraudulent means. Obtained while evading payment of taxes or import duties. On the other hand, some items are by definition contraband regardless of how a person may have acquired or dealt with them. The category includes such things as illegal drugs, obscene materials and unlicensed weapons. A person who possesses, trades, imports or exports items like these will therefore be dealing in contraband. In…

Criminal goes from bad to worse…

Meet 20-year-old Jarious Tremayne Mock.  Thanks from a tip from the smoking gun website, we all learn a valuable lesson as to how to turn a bad day into something much worse. The night started with Mr. Mock leaving a nightclub and drunkenly shouting “F–k the police” as he saw nearby officers.  The cops responded by giving him a citation for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.  Per usual regulations, the officers ran the North Carolinian man for warrants and they discovered he had an outstanding warrant for a failure to appear on a possession of marijuana charge! This cost him an arrest.  He was taken to jail where he was then told that he could make bail of only $200 if he wished.  He told the cops the money was in his wallet.  What the police found instead earned him a felony charge.  The police discovered a counterfeit $100 bill and a fake $20 bill!  His bail was increased to $2,000 and he is now facing a load of…
