The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested five people in and around Reno and Sparks for violating Nevada DUI law on July Fourth. Four of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol while the fifth driver was under the influence of marijuana. Police also issued several traffic citations regarding seat belts and child safety seat violations.
Nevada DUI Law prohibits drivers from operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It's automatically illegal to drive with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher even if the driver is being safe. A common defense to DUI charges is that the breath testing equipment was faulty.
