A Charleston man wound up behind bars early Friday morning after his car wound up in the ocean.
Authorities with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at 1:10 a.m. Friday at the intersection of North Waccamaw and Woodland drives in Charleston, SC.
The driver was reportedly traveling on Woodland Drive when he ran the stop sign at the intersection, which parallels the coast, authorities stated. His vehicle struck a fence and then went into the ocean.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to information from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
He remains incarcerated under no bond.
